PESHAWAR: Zafar Khan Yousafzai has been elected chairman of the Civil Secretariat Coordination Council, securing a resounding majority in recently held elections. He will serve a five-year term at the helm of the council, which represents Class III and Class IV employees of the secretariat.
The election process, according to an official statement, was held in a transparent manner, with hundreds of government employees exercising their right to vote. Mr Yousafzai secured a clear and decisive lead over rival candidates, a result that is being interpreted as a strong vote of confidence from the lower-tier staff.
Speaking to reporters following the announcement of the results, Mr Yousafzai thanked the employees for reposing their trust in his leadership.
“I am deeply grateful to all Class III and Class IV colleagues who supported me,” he said. “I will ensure their concerns are raised at relevant forums and will continue to advocate for their rights at every possible level.”
He vowed to promote transparency, uphold merit, and pursue the welfare of employees through effective and inclusive policies. He described the union as a platform for unity and collective progress, and pledged to take all stakeholders along in decision-making.
Employees across various departments welcomed Mr Yousafzai’s election, terming it a positive development. Many expressed hope that the council, under his leadership, would play a more proactive role in addressing their longstanding issues.
It may be noted that Mr Yousafzai has remained active in employees rights advocacy over the years and has held key positions within employee unions in the past.
