DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A delegation of the United Nations Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS) held an important meeting with Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera, Syed Ashfaq Anwar, at the Range Police Office Dera Ismail Khan to discuss security matters related to ongoing UN projects in the Dera Range.

The meeting focused on the security of UN representatives, field challenges, and operational requirements. The UNDSS delegation expressed full confidence in the professional capabilities of the Dera Range Police, appreciating their role in maintaining peace, stability and ensuring the safety of UN projects. The delegation paid rich tribute to the courage, sense of duty and services of police personnel.

The delegation noted that the role of the police force is fundamental to the success of UN projects, particularly in sensitive areas where law enforcement agencies play a crucial role not only in maintaining law and order but also in fostering lasting peace. They acknowledged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has historically demonstrated exemplary performance in this regard.

During the meeting, the delegation also highlighted prevailing security challenges in the field and discussed further strengthening security arrangements in line with international standards.

RPO Dera Syed Ashfaq Anwar assured the delegation that maintaining peace and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens remain the top priority of the police. He emphasized that mutual cooperation between the police and the public is essential for sustainable peace and development in the region.

He further stated that Dera Range Police will continue to enhance security measures for UN projects, adding that these projects are not only a symbol of global trust but also a milestone towards the development and a better future for the region.
