ABBOTTABAD: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance Muzzammil Aslam held an important briefing session with World Bank President Mr. Ajay Banga and the Federal Minister for Finance during their visit to Abbottabad.

During the briefing, Muzzammil Aslam presented an overview of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s fiscal landscape, ongoing economic reforms, and priority development initiatives being undertaken by the provincial government. He highlighted the government’s focus on financial discipline, revenue mobilization, transparent public financial management, and sustainable economic growth, particularly in key social and infrastructure sectors.

The advisor also shared details of various World Bank–supported projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, outlining their progress, impact on service delivery, and contribution to poverty alleviation, human development, and climate resilience. Emphasis was placed on strengthening institutional capacity, improving governance mechanisms, and ensuring effective and timely utilization of development funds.

Mr. Muzzammil Aslam reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to deepening cooperation with international financial institutions, especially the World Bank, to support long-term development goals and address emerging economic and fiscal challenges. He noted that continued collaboration would play a vital role in enhancing economic stability and promoting inclusive growth across the province.

World Bank President Ajay Banga appreciated the briefing and stressed the importance of sustained reforms, strong governance, and results-oriented implementation. He reiterated the World Bank’s support for development initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, expanding access to basic services, and strengthening economic resilience.

The Federal Minister for Finance also underscored the need for close coordination between the federal and provincial governments to ensure macroeconomic stability and maximize the impact of development partnerships.

Senior officials from the provincial and federal governments, as well as representatives of relevant departments, were present on the occasion. The meeting was described as a significant step toward enhancing policy coordination and reinforcing development cooperation between Pakistan and the World Bank, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
