PESHAWAR: Secretary Information, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bakhtiar Khan has said that February 5 — Kashmir Solidarity Day — is a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for the just struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) for their internationally recognized right to self-determination.

In his message on the occasion, Bakhtiar Khan stated that Kashmir Solidarity Day renews the nation’s collective resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people in their prolonged struggle against oppression and the denial of fundamental rights. He emphasized that the observance of this day sends a clear and reassuring message to the people of Kashmir that they are not alone, and that their sacrifices are acknowledged and honored.

The Secretary Information noted that the people of IIOJK have been facing grave human rights violations for decades, including restrictions on freedom of expression, arbitrary detentions, excessive use of force, and demographic changes in violation of international law. He stressed that such actions have failed to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people and have instead strengthened their resolve for freedom and justice.

Bakhtiar Khan urged the international community, human rights organizations, and global powers to move beyond statements of concern and take concrete steps to ensure the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir. He said lasting peace in South Asia remains impossible without a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent and principled stance on the Kashmir issue, he said the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fully supports all national and diplomatic efforts aimed at highlighting the plight of Kashmiris at regional and international forums. He added that sustained awareness through media, public engagement, and institutional initiatives is essential to keeping the Kashmir issue alive on the global agenda.

Bakhtiar Khan further emphasized the role of information departments and media institutions in projecting the voices of oppressed Kashmiris and countering misinformation. He said conveying the truth about Kashmir to the world is both a moral obligation and a national duty.

On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, senior officials of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and reiterated their commitment to justice, peace, and human dignity.
