IMRAN AFRIDI
JAMRUD: The decision was made during a press conference in Jamrud Press Club, led by Secretary General Syed Kabir Afridi, along with Maulana Muhammad Rahim Haqqani,Mufti Saeed Khan, and Senior Leader Maulana Gul Nawaz.
Afridi stated that the rally and protest, scheduled from Jamrud Press Club to Bab-e-Khyber, were postponed on the directive of JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He alleged widespread electoral rigging and efforts to exclude religious parties, particularly JUI-F, from the assemblies. Fazlur Rehman had already rejected the 2024 general elections, and a protest movement against rigging was ongoing.
Afridi claimed rigging occurred in every constituency and polling station in Khyber District, and entire assemblies were bought. JUI-F had called for nationwide protests on February 8, but decided to postpone following consultations with opposition parties and the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayin-e-Pakistan.
The party expressed concerns over the military operation in Tirah Valley, demanding that affected people be given IDP status, provided full facilities, and treated with dignity. They also opposed the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill, particularly the clause banning marriages of children under 18, calling it unconstitutional and unnecessary.
