PESHAWAR: A dignified yet graceful ceremony was held in Peshawar to honor renowned sports journalist Ghani Ur Rehman for his outstanding and positive contribution to the promotion of sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The event was organized by the victorious women’s team of the District Peshawar Women ITF Taekwondo Championship.
The ceremony was attended by office-bearers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ITF Taekwondo Association, female athletes, and several personalities associated with the sports community.
The chief guest on the occasion was Naveed Habibi, Chairman of the provincial ITF Taekwondo Association and a distinguished martial arts coach. Addressing the gathering, he stated that Ghani Ur Rehman has played a remarkable role not only in Peshawar but across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in highlighting sports activities and encouraging emerging talent.
He emphasized that Ghani Ur Rehman has consistently used his pen to promote sports development, recognize grassroots talent, and boost the morale of dedicated athletes. “Constructive journalism brings positive change in society,” he remarked, adding that the growing confidence and determination of KP athletes at national and international levels reflect the importance of such responsible reporting.
Naveed Habibi reaffirmed the association’s commitment to providing more opportunities to female athletes, ensuring they achieve prominence in martial arts and other sports disciplines.
Speaking on the occasion, female athletes praised Ghani Ur Rehman’s professional contributions, noting that his encouraging and motivational reports serve as a guiding light for young sportsmen and sportswomen. In recognition of his services to sports promotion and positive journalism, he was presented with a special appreciation certificate.
The ceremony concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, with participants reiterating their commitment to the advancement of sports and continued support for talented athletes. The event symbolized the strong and indispensable bond between performance on the field and the power of the pen.
