KARACHI: An eight-member delegation of Community Policing Karachi (CPK), led by Murad Soni, called on Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Azad Khan at the Karachi Police Office to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening law and order in the metropolis.

During the meeting, the delegation commended Karachi Police for its effective measures in maintaining peace and stability across the city and reaffirmed its commitment to further enhancing mutual cooperation.

Murad Soni provided a detailed briefing to the police chief on the upgradation of the city’s CCTV surveillance network and ongoing technical support initiatives. He informed that state of the art PTZ cameras equipped with 32x optical zoom have been integrated with the Karachi Police Office. These advanced cameras are capable of 360-degree rotation and can effectively monitor areas within an approximate two-kilometer radius. Moreover, they possess the capability to identify faces and vehicle number plates from a distance of up to one kilometer.

He further stated that the cameras operate on an auto-patrolling mode and offer instant image capture with on-the-spot printing facility, significantly enhancing rapid response and investigative efficiency.

In the initial phase, 10 modern surveillance cameras are being installed at key locations across Karachi, while the installation of an additional 40 cameras is expected to be completed shortly.

AIG Karachi Azad Khan appreciated the community policing initiatives and emphasized that the effective use of modern technology would lead to a significant reduction in street crime and other criminal activities, while ensuring improved protection of citizens lives and property.
