TP REPORT

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a four-day working week for government offices as part of a new austerity initiative aimed at reducing public expenditures.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, government offices will remain open from Monday to Thursday, while Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be observed as weekly holidays.

The notification further states that officers in Grade-20 and above, as well as those receiving a salary exceeding Rs300,000, have been requested to voluntarily accept a two-day salary deduction.

The measure will apply to officers working in federal and provincial government institutions. However, the health and education sectors have been exempted from the salary reduction.

The decision follows the austerity package announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which aims to cut government spending and promote financial discipline within public sector institutions.
