PESHAWAR: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Branch celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm to recognize the valuable contributions of women in humanitarian services and community development and also the rights of the women in a society were highlighted.

The event was organized at the PRCS Provincial Headquarters in Peshawar, where ICRC Head of sub delegation Bronu
Zartasha, Deputy Head of sub delegation Shahid Khan, former MPA Ayesha Bano, religious scholar Qari Roohullah, Provincial Secretary PRCS KP Abid Rehman Marwat, director Operation PRCS Muhammad Iqbal, the organizer Assistant Director PRCS KP Sumreen Afridi, other staff members and dozens of female volunteers took part in the event.
The Provincial Secretary conveyed the messages of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Kareem Kundi and Chairman PRCS KP Farzand Ali Wazir saying that the empowerment of women in a society gives development to a state, the role of women in the society is unforgettable. The chairperson of PRCS Mrs. Farzana Naek also delivered her video message urging the women to play their role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

The ceremony aimed to focus on promoting women’s rights, equality, and empowerment around the world.

During the event, speakers appreciated the dedication and hard work of women volunteers and staff of PRCS who actively contribute to disaster response, health services, and community-based programs across the province. They emphasized that empowering women is essential for building strong and resilient communities.

The participants also shared their experiences and discussed ways to further strengthen women’s participation in humanitarian initiatives.

On this occasion, PRCS reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment and creating an inclusive environment where women can continue to play a leading role in humanitarian action.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to continue supporting women’s rights, dignity, and equal opportunities in all sectors of society.

Certificates of appreciation were distributed among female staff members and volunteers in recognition of their outstanding services and commitment.

Later on, a special International Women’s Day banner was displayed during the event where participants wrote their messages, shared comments, and signed the banner to express their support for women’s empowerment, equality, and dignity.

Furthermore, a rally march was organized by PRCS staff, volunteers and guest speakers to promote awareness about women’s rights and gender equality. Participants carried banners and placards highlighting the significance of women’s empowerment and their vital role in society.
