TP REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Muhammad Humayun Khan, has strongly reacted to the Ramadan relief package announced by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, terming it a political move rather than a genuine effort to provide relief to the struggling masses.

In a statement, he said that people across the country are already facing severe inflation, and instead of offering meaningful relief, the government has announced a package that lacks transparency and effectiveness. He added that making symbolic announcements during the holy month of Ramadan without delivering practical benefits to the poor is unfair to the public.

Muhammad Humayun Khan stated that if the government is truly serious about supporting the poor and deserving segments of society, it should strengthen effective welfare initiatives such as the Benazir Income Support Programme, which has been providing financial assistance to millions of deserving families across Pakistan without political discrimination.

He emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always prioritized public welfare and introduced several social protection programs for underprivileged segments during its tenure. The Benazir Income Support Programme, he added, remains one of the most successful initiatives aimed at supporting the poorest segments of society and ensuring their economic stability.

Muhammad Humayun Khan urged the government to move beyond temporary announcements and adopt sustainable economic policies to control inflation and provide real relief to ordinary citizens. He stressed that ensuring the availability of essential food items at affordable prices during Ramadan is the government’s responsibility.

He reiterated that the Pakistan Peoples Party will continue to raise its voice for the rights of the people and oppose any policy or initiative that ignores or exploits the needs of the poor.
