Bajaur: A mega plantation drive was carried out in District Bajaur as part of efforts to promote environmental protection and a greener Pakistan. Large-scale tree plantation activities were conducted across various parts of the district.
According to the district administration, special plantation activities were organized at eight different locations, where a total of 34,500 saplings were planted. These included valuable and environmentally beneficial species such as pine, deodar, eucalyptus, chir, kail, phulai, loquat, and walnut. Officials stated that a total of 580,000 saplings have been planted so far during the current season, marking significant progress toward environmental improvement in the district.
In addition, special focus was given to the plantation of fruit-bearing trees to encourage community participation. Around 650 fruit plants, including orange, citrus, plum, and persimmon, were planted at prominent government buildings and within local communities. According to officials, the seasonal target of planting 10,000 fruit trees is being actively pursued.
District authorities reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the plantation drive further in order to curb environmental pollution, mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, and ensure a cleaner and healthier environment. Citizens were also urged to actively participate in this national initiative by planting more trees.
