PESHAWAR:
Minister Health KP, Mr. Ihtisham Ali and Minister Science and Information Technology KP Mr. Shafqat Ayaz were the Chief Guests in the event of Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Center and Blood Transfusion Services Peshawar regarding celebration of World Blood Donor Day, 2025.

They were welcomed by the founder Chairman of Hamza Foundation Mr. Ijza Ali Khan.

They visited different sections of the organization and met with Thalassemia, Hemophilia patients and their parents.

On that occasion Mr. Ijaz said in his speech that
First of all, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our distinguished chief guests and the esteemed Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend and grace this simple yet dignified ceremony with their presence, despite various engagements.

This event today is being held in connection with World Blood Donor Day, to encourage voluntary blood donation and to honor the unsung heroes who, with each drop of their blood, bring hope and life to others. The theme of this year is:

“We honor voluntary blood donors — hope, the kind you give with every drop of blood.”

This powerful message highlights the true value of blood donation. Anyone who donates blood to save another’s life is indeed a true hero. On this meaningful occasion, we pay heartfelt tribute to all volunteer blood donors whose donations save the lives of millions across Pakistan.

These donations are truly “gifts of life”, and those who offer them are undoubtedly great individuals who are the lifelines of our society. Their generosity fills the lives of others with happiness.

On this important occasion, I extend deep appreciation to:
• The parents and guardians of patients suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, and blood cancer;
• The management of Hamza Foundation;
• Our passionate and selfless volunteers, especially the youth and students;
• And above all, our media partners, for their constant support in highlighting the needs and efforts of blood donation.

It is a matter of great pride that the dedicated Hamza Foundation Blood Donation Team, driven by a spirit of service, has significantly increased the collection of voluntary blood donations throughout the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

More than 1500 Registered patients of Thalassemia and Hemophilia at Hamza Foundation regularly receive free, screened blood units, ensuring the availability of safe and healthy blood beside its registered patients, Hamza Foundation also providing blood and blood products to both government and private hospitals of the province.

Till date, Hamza Foundation has collected and supplied a total of more then 200,000 blood screened, infection-free blood free of charge to patients in need across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Foundation uses state-of-the-art digital labs and modern screening machines such as the Cobas E-411 to test every donated blood bag, ensuring it is free from Hepatitis B, C, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and syphilis.

According to a careful survey:
• 52% of all blood donations in Pakistan go to children with thalassemia.
• Only 0.6% of the Pakistani population donates blood voluntarily.
• However, we need 4–5 million blood bags annually to meet the needs of patients from accidents, bomb blasts, complicated childbirths, and other emergencies.

If every eligible individual donates blood just once a year, we could easily meet Pakistan’s national blood demand.
Both the Chief guests highly appreciated the welfare services of the organization and promised that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government will support Hamza Foundation cause for the ailing humanity . They also promised that KP Government will soon include Thalassemia patients kids in Sehat Card.
They also met with patients and cutt the cake with them.
Chairman Hamza Foundation has presented Shields to both the ministers.
