Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police delivered an outstanding performance to defeat Afghan Club Chitral by 5 goals to 1, winning the exhibition football match held in connection with the 75th anniversary of Pak-China friendship. The match was played at Tahmas Khan Football Stadium, where Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Asif, and Director General Sports KP, Tashfeen Haider, were the chief guests. They distributed prizes among the players.
A large number of football fans witnessed the match, holding the national flags of Pakistan and China, and paid tribute to Pak-China friendship. Both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Chitral teams included international players who displayed excellent skills. However, KP Police, with their experienced lineup, secured a convincing victory over Chitral Club.
Speaking to the media, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Muhammad Asif said that celebrations for the 75th anniversary of Pak-China friendship are being held across the country, but Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have taken the lead. He credited the Chinese cultural center, China Window in Peshawar, for this initiative. He further stated that efforts will be made to strengthen Pak-China friendship in the field of sports, adding that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to inviting Chinese teams to visit Peshawar and other parts of the province for exhibition matches. He also extended congratulations to the people of China on the anniversary.


Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider said that they aim to benefit from the expertise of Chinese coaches and plan to invite them to Peshawar in the future. He emphasized that Pak-China friendship is everlasting, and the people of Peshawar take pride in it. He added that on this anniversary, there is a need to reaffirm the commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties and continue progressing in all fields of life.
Earlier in the match, KP Police had a 2-1 lead over Chitral at halftime. In the second half, KP Police scored three more goals, while Afghan Club Chitral failed to score, resulting in a comfortable victory for KP Police.
International player Raheel scored three goals, while Amir Hamza netted two goals for KP Police. The only goal for Chitral was scored by international player Izhar. At the end of the match, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Muhammad Asif and Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider distributed trophies and cash prizes among the players, while special awards were also given to the participating international players.
