Dera Ismail Khan: Vice Chancellor of the Agricultural University Dera Ismail Khan, Professor Dr. Shakeeb Ullah, stated that modern research, quality education, and practical training must be given equal importance to ensure sustainable development in the agricultural sector.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting held at the university. The meeting was attended by heads of various departments, faculty members, and administrative officers, where academic standards, research activities, administrative affairs, and student-related issues were reviewed in detail.

The Vice Chancellor said that the primary objective of the university is to produce professionals capable of providing practical solutions to the country’s agricultural challenges. He directed that the curriculum should be aligned with modern trends and updated according to international standards so that students can compete globally.

Highlighting challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and low agricultural productivity, he emphasized that modern scientific research is essential to address these issues. He stressed the need to link research with practical agricultural fields so that its outcomes can directly benefit farmers.

Professor Dr. Shakeeb Ullah also urged faculty members to focus on students’ practical training by providing them with opportunities for fieldwork, laboratory research, and internships.

During the meeting, matters related to student facilities, hostels, laboratories, and the overall academic environment were also discussed in detail. The Vice Chancellor directed the concerned authorities to resolve all issues on a priority basis.

He reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the Agricultural University Dera Ismail Khan into a modern, research-oriented institution meeting international standards.
