DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division, Dawood Khan, chaired an important meeting regarding irrigation rights and the construction of paved spillways at Ghasha Sindh.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Director General Small Dams, Assistant to Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch, and officials from the Irrigation Department, CRBC, C&W Department, Flood Division, Rud Kohi, and other relevant institutions.
During the meeting, irrigation rights of landowners in the Rud Loni area of Tehsil Kalachi were discussed in detail. Progress on various projects related to the construction of spillways at Ghasha Sindh was also reviewed.
Commissioner Dawood Khan directed the concerned departments to ensure full protection of farmers’ rights and adopt a coordinated strategy for fair distribution of water. He emphasized the importance of effective rainwater management in river valley areas to protect agricultural land and maximize water utilization for farming.
He stressed timely and quality construction of spillways to help control flood situations. The meeting also agreed on strengthening coordination among departments to ensure swift completion of ongoing and proposed projects.
The Commissioner instructed all institutions to regularly report progress and immediately inform higher authorities in case of any obstacles. He further directed officers to maintain close contact with local communities and farmers to address their issues promptly and ensure the benefits of development projects reach the public.
Clear timelines were set at the conclusion of the meeting for the implementation of various initiatives.
