PROVINCE REPORT
ABBOTTABAD: Under the auspices of the Pakistan Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Federation Wheelchair Department, the ITF-PTF Wheelchair Tennis Development Initiative Coaching Camp commenced in Abbottabad on May 7.
Abbottabad has become the third city in the country to host the coaching initiative within the last 20 days. Four wheelchair players joined the camp on the opening day at Abbottabad Club in Hazara Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Earlier in April, similar camps were inaugurated in Lahore and Faisalabad, where more than 30 wheelchair users participated in talent hunt events and promising players were selected from both Punjab cities. The Abbottabad camp is being conducted under the supervision of the KP Tennis Association.
Muhammad Khalid Rehmani thanked Umar Ayaz Khalil for his continuous patronage and also appreciated the management of Abbottabad Club for providing facilities to hold the camp at the prestigious venue.
Nasir Mehmood is serving as coordinator of the camp, while Faisal Mehmood is performing duties as coach. The participating wheelchair players include Faisal Mahmood, Hanif Mughal, Hashim Hussain, Sayed Noor Hussain Shah, Abbas Ahmad, Muhammad Riaz, and Ishtiaq Hussain.
It was also resolved during the recent PTF AGM to organize a similar wheelchair tennis camp in Quetta, Balochistan, later this year.
During 2025 and early 2026, the Pakistan Tennis Federation organized similar camps and tournaments in cities including Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas, besides participating twice in the ITF Wheelchair Qualification Asian Event in Sri Lanka.
