Bajaur: A police Constable was killed after unidentified armed men opened fire in the Tarkho area of Mamond tehsil in Bajaur district, following which security forces launched a search operation in the area.
According to police sources, the deceased constable was identified as Saeed Ullah, son of Ghulam, a resident of Katkot Mamond. Reports said the constable was on duty when unidentified attackers opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured. He was immediately shifted to a nearby health facility but succumbed to his injuries.
DSP Niaz Muhammad, while confirming the incident, said the attackers managed to flee after carrying out the attack. However, search and intelligence-based operations have been launched in the area for the arrest of the suspects. He added that investigations are underway from different angles and those responsible will soon be brought to justice.
According to sources, the law and order situation in Bajaur and other tribal districts has once again become alarming during the year 2026, and more than 12 police personnel have lost their lives in various attacks and incidents in Bajaur so far this year.
Local circles expressed grief over the killing of the police officer and voiced concern over the growing security threats in the area, urging the government to take effective measures to improve the security situation.
