Peshawar: Shamim Fazal Khaliq, an executive member of Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum and a distinguished writer, poet, and fiction author, held a unique place in the literary world due to her scholarship, grace, and admirable human qualities. She began writing at a young age and continued serving literature through her pen until her last breath. News of her sudden passing cast a deep shadow of grief across literary circles.
In recognition of her literary contributions, Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum organized a condolence reference yesterday. The event was presided over by the Forum’s Chairperson and Presidential Award-winning writer, Bushra Farrukh. Office-bearers, members of the forum, and the family of the late Shamim Fazal Khaliq attended the gathering and paid tribute to her personality, literary services, and memorable qualities.
Bushra Farrukh said that Shamim Fazal Khaliq was a simple, gracious, and unassuming woman. According to her, Shamim was not only an outstanding writer but also an exceptionally refined and sincere human being.
Narjis Afroz Zaidi described her as a saintly soul and remarked that one could never tell from meeting her that she was such a great writer.
Shamshad Nazli said that in all the years of their companionship, she never found a single flaw in Shamim Fazal Khaliq, calling her a personification of virtues.
Shahida Sardar, in an emotional voice, said that her heart still refused to accept that Shamim Fazal Khaliq was no longer among them. She added that Shamim was a beautiful person both inwardly and outwardly.
Dr. Roshan Kaleem shared that Shamim Fazal Khaliq always cared deeply about her friends and, even during illness, did not want anyone to worry about her.
Faiza Shehzad said that she had always addressed her as “Shamim Apa,” and that Shamim treated her with the affection and kindness of an elder sister. Her humility, modesty, and warmth, she said, would always be remembered.
Samina Qadir said that throughout their long friendship, Shamim Fazal Khaliq never spoke ill of anyone. She was a truthful, genuine, and dignified woman.
Nilofar Sami noted that she could not recall Shamim Fazal Khaliq ever hurting anyone’s feelings or engaging in an unpleasant argument. She always dealt with others with sincerity and affection.
Shaheen Amin said that Shamim Fazal Khaliq was not only a beautiful personality but also a woman of exceptional character who always met others with love and warmth.
Tabinda Farrukh offered prayers for the departed soul, while at the conclusion of the event, Bushra Farrukh recited a few verses from her ghazal dedicated to Shamim Fazal Khaliq’s daughter, Andaleeb Fazal Khaliq.
At the end of the condolence reference, all participants prayed for the elevation of Shamim Fazal Khaliq’s ranks in the hereafter and for patience and strength for her family. They then returned home with heavy hearts.
May Almighty Allah grant Shamim Fazal Khaliq the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and bless her family with patience and fortitude. Ameen.
