PROVINCE REPORT

PESHAWAR: MTI Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) has clarified that all mental health, psychiatric, and rehabilitation services will continue without interruption, and no department is being closed, shifted, or downgraded.

According to HMC, the proposed “Peshawar Institute of Neurosciences & Mental Health” aims to strengthen and modernize mental health care, neuropsychiatry, rehabilitation, teaching, research, and advanced treatment facilities under an integrated healthcare framework to provide comprehensive and quality services to patients.

The institution stated that psychiatry, rehabilitation, addiction medicine, community mental health, child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, medical education, training, and research will remain among its core priorities. The addition of neurosciences is being introduced as a clinically relevant expansion to further improve integrated brain and mental health care, not as a replacement for psychiatric services.

HMC further stated that all administrative, academic, clinical, and operational matters are being handled under the supervision of the Board of Governors in accordance with MTI laws, rules, regulations, and relevant government documents. Detailed review of the PC-I, PC-IV, Health Department notifications, affiliation records, and other legal and administrative documents is also underway to ensure complete transparency, legality, and protection of public interest.

MTI Hayatabad Medical Complex reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening mental health services, improving rehabilitation systems, promoting modern research, and engaging stakeholders to further enhance the institution’s role in public healthcare.
