PROVINCE REPORT
MALAKAND: Ms. Haseeba, a scholar in the Department of Education, University of Malakand, has successfully defended her MPhil thesis in Education titled “Undergraduate Students’ Perceptions of Internal Assessment in the Semester System: A Case Study of a Government Degree College.”
The public defense was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Itbar Khan, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Education, University of Malakand, while Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Associate Professor, Department of Education and Staff Training, University of Swat, served as the external examiner.
Using a mixed-methods research design, the study examined internal assessment practices, challenges, and perceptions of fairness at Gulabad College, an affiliated institution of the University of Malakand.
The research provided context-specific insights into assessment systems in Pakistan’s higher education sector and highlighted key implications for policy improvement, teaching practices, and student learning outcomes.
The external examiner and attending scholars appreciated the candidate and supervisor for addressing an important and locally relevant issue in higher education and for presenting practical recommendations to improve assessment quality and student satisfaction.
