PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Captain (Retd.) Sanaullah Khan, chaired an important meeting at the Supreme Command Post, Kohati, Peshawar, to review arrangements for maintaining law and order and promoting inter-sect harmony during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner (City) Zeeshan Najeeb, administrative officers, and a large number of prominent religious scholars representing various schools of thought from across Peshawar.

Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah Khan stated that Muharram-ul-Haram is a month of respect, tolerance and mutual harmony. He said the district administration is utilizing all available resources to maintain peace and provide maximum facilities to citizens during the holy month.

He added that special arrangements have been ensured for sanitation, street lighting, water supply and traffic management, while close coordination is being maintained with religious scholars and all stakeholders to prevent any untoward incidents and to ensure a peaceful environment throughout the district.

Speaking on the occasion, religious scholars reaffirmed their commitment to promoting the message of peace, brotherhood, harmony and tolerance. They emphasized that all schools of thought and religious speakers would play their role in preserving the sanctity of Muharram-ul-Haram and preventing sectarian tensions or unrest.

The scholars assured the district administration of their full cooperation to make Peshawar a model of peace and religious harmony during Muharram.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner expressed confidence that peace, unity and brotherhood would prevail across Peshawar during Muharram-ul-Haram. He urged citizens to refrain from spreading rumors, provocative speeches and hateful content on social media and advised them to immediately report any suspicious or inflammatory activity to the district administration or relevant authorities for timely action.

Participants from all schools of thought appreciated the efforts of the district administration and assured their complete cooperation in maintaining peace and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
