Shafi Jan says AI, cyber security, digital land records & free public Wi-Fi projects will modernize public services across KP

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the KP government is taking practical steps to promote technology-driven public service delivery and modern governance. He said that making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a hub for modern technology is the current government’s top priority, and several key projects have been included in the current fiscal year’s budget to achieve this goal.
Shafi Jan stated that the provincial government will establish the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Artificial Intelligence Authority at a cost of Rs 1 billion. The authority aims to promote the use of AI in public services, make government systems more efficient, and advance AI within the education sector. He added that investing in modern technology will prove to be a major milestone for the bright future of the youth and the creation of new employment opportunities.
Minister information further stated that the government is launching a free public Wi-Fi service across various public locations in Peshawar, for which Rs 500 million has been allocated in the current fiscal year’s budget. He noted that the scope of this project would be extended to other districts of the province in a phased manner.
While talking about digital initiatives under the Good Governance Roadmap, the Information Minister said that Rs 374 million has been allocated to modernize the Digital Land Record System. Rs 900 million has been budgeted for the establishment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cyber Security Operations Centre While Rs 300 million has been earmarked for the digital integration of emergency services to ensure timely, coordinated, and effective services for the public.
Shafi Jan stated that in line with the vision of the founding chairman Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being aligned with future requirements through the promotion of digital governance. He reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to pursue a digital reforms agenda to provide modern, transparent, and efficient services to citizens.
These initiatives, he concluded, will play a pivotal role in making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa an exemplary province in the fields of technology and good governance.
