PESHAWAR: The Inter-Academy Badminton Championship, organized by the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, concluded successfully with exciting finals across different age categories.
In the Under-13 Boys final, Aqib Shah defeated Huzaifa to claim the title, while Ayesha emerged champion in the Under-13 Girls category after overcoming Hamna. In the Under-17 Boys final, Talha defeated Abdul Basit, while Abeera won the Under-17 Girls title by beating Hina.
Badminton promoter Sofyan attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes among the winners. Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah, coaches Hayat Ullah and Faraz Ahmad, and female coach Bushra were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Sofyan reaffirmed his commitment to promoting badminton and supporting both junior and senior players. He said discovering and nurturing young talent remains his mission and pledged continued support for the sport.
During the event, Pakistan’s leading badminton players, Qari Muhammad Adnan and Najam Saqib, were presented with special awards in recognition of their impressive victories at the Fatehpur Badminton Championship and the Lahore Badminton Championship.
Speaking on the occasion, Qari Muhammad Adnan and Najam Saqib thanked coach Hayat Ullah for honoring and encouraging them, saying the recognition had further boosted their confidence. They vowed to continue working hard to bring more laurels to Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Tournament organizer and coach Hayat Ullah, along with coach Bushra, said the championship was aimed at identifying and developing emerging talent. They expressed satisfaction over the successful discovery of promising young players and pledged to continue their training so they can represent the province and Pakistan at national and international levels.
