BERLIN: The Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with patriotic fervor and national spirit at Pakistan House, Berlin.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany, Ms. Shaqlain Syeda, to the tune of the national anthem. The German national anthem was also played on the occasion.
Messages of the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan on Independence Day were read out to the participants.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Shaqlain Syeda extended heartfelt greetings to the Pakistani community, German dignitaries and friends of Pakistan. Emphasizing the significance of Independence Day, she said freedom was a sacred trust achieved through the vision and sacrifices of the forefathers of Pakistan under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Highlighting Pakistan’s achievements in recent years, the Ambassador noted progress towards economic stability, the country’s growing role in green energy and climate justice, and the expanding potential of Pakistan’s youth-led IT and technology sector.
She said this year’s Independence Day celebrations carried special historical significance as Pakistan is commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She emphasized that Pakistan could move towards greater progress by following the Quaid’s golden principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline.
A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of an award to Dr. Santa Maria Anna Siller in recognition of her humanitarian services, efforts to empower rural women and outstanding contributions to community development in Pakistan.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of the Independence Day cake, a live musical performance by a Pakistani artist and traditional Pakistani refreshments.
A large number of members of the Pakistani community, German officials, diplomats and friends of Pakistan attended the ceremony.
