ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has conferred the Sitara-i-Imtiaz on Ms Aisha Rasool Mehsud, Senior Consultant (Research & Opinion), Ministry of Law & Justice, in recognition of her distinguished contributions to public service, justice sector reforms, legal education, digital transformation and international legal cooperation.
With more than 15 years of public-sector experience, Ms Rasool holds an LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of York, UK, and is an accredited mediator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Hailing from South Waziristan, she has emerged as a prominent legal professional and public-sector reform leader.
Currently serving as Project Director of the International Mediation & Arbitration Centre (IMAC) and the Case Assignment & Management System (CAMS), she has contributed to institutional strengthening, policy development, digitalisation, professional capacity building and international cooperation.
At the international level, Ms Rasool represented Pakistan on the Expert Working Group of the International Organization for Mediation, contributing to the drafting of its Convention and rules on international commercial and investment mediation.
She has also played an important role in strengthening Pakistan’s legal and judicial cooperation with countries including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. Under her leadership, IMAC organised international training programmes on treaty practice and judicial skills, promoting professional exchange and regional legal cooperation.
As Project Director IMAC, Ms Rasool has also worked to promote mediation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in Pakistan. Her initiatives have involved judges, lawyers, parliamentarians, civil servants and the business community.
Her contributions to digital justice include leading the development of CAMS, aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and real-time case management. She also played a key role in establishing the E-Campus of the Federal Judicial Academy.
Ms Rasool has served at the Federal Judicial Academy and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy. She established the Federal Judicial Academy’s first research journal and has authored more than 40 research papers published in international journals.
The Sitara-i-Imtiaz recognises her contributions to justice sector reform, ADR, digital governance, judicial education and international legal cooperation. Her journey from South Waziristan to national and international legal forums has been described as an inspiring example of resilience, professional excellence and dedicated public service.
