PESHAWAR: A special event was organized for children battling cancer and their parents at Khyber Medical University Hospital & Research Center (KMUH&RC), Peshawar. The event aimed to bring smiles to the faces of young patients, boost their morale and provide them with memorable moments of happiness during the difficult stages of their treatment.
The event was organized by Clinical Psychologist Sundas Bibi in collaboration with the Departments of Psychology and Pediatric Oncology. Various games and recreational activities were arranged for the children, while gifts and refreshments were also distributed among them. The children actively participated in the activities and expressed great joy.
Refreshments were also arranged for the parents, who were provided guidance regarding the emotional needs of their children and ways to better support them during the course of the illness. Various recreational activities were also organized for the hospital doctors and staff to provide them with an opportunity to relax and spend some pleasant moments.
Registrar KMU, Inam Ullah Khan Wazir, Dr. Shaista Khan and Muhammad Wazir attended the event. They met the children, spent time with them and encouraged them. They also interacted with the parents and expressed their support and sympathy.
Special support for the event was provided by Ibrahim Shah, National Sales Manager, McOLSON Research Laboratory, and Sundas Bibi, Clinical Psychologist, KMUH&RC.
Speaking on the occasion, the organizers emphasized that alongside physical health, the mental and emotional well-being of children undergoing cancer treatment is equally important. Such activities help promote positive thinking, self-confidence and hope among young patients.
The event was not merely a recreational activity but a message of hope, courage and compassion for children battling cancer and their families.
