SWAT:In a historic first for Swat district, a mass marriage ceremony was organized for 29 poor, orphan, and deserving couples under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zakat and Ushr Department, with the active cooperation of the District Administration Swat. The event was held at a local wedding hall in Qambar, Swat, as part of a broader provincial initiative launched under the directives of Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
This significant social welfare program aims to support financially vulnerable families across the province. As part of the event, each couple received a cheque of Rs. 200,000 as a dowry fund to begin their new lives with dignity and financial stability. A simple yet generous banquet was also arranged for the newlyweds and their families.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent officials and public representatives, including Provincial Chairman Zakat and Ushr Council Imtiaz Ali Khan, Commissioner Malakand Division Abid Wazir, Deputy Commissioner Swat Shahzad Mehboob, District Chairman Zakat and Ushr Malik Asif Ali Shahzad, Mayor City Council Shahid Ali, Tehsil Chairman Kabal Saeed Khan, and Tehsil Chairman Bahrain Mian Shahzad Ali.
In their speeches, dignitaries praised the initiative as a remarkable step toward social harmony and an expression of the state’s responsibility to uplift the underprivileged. They highlighted that such efforts not only provide material support but also reinforce Islamic values of compassion, community support, and dignity for all.
The event concluded with prayers for the happiness and prosperity of the newly married couples and heartfelt gratitude to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for this meaningful initiative.
