MARDAN: Women University Mardan (WUM) has signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) — with Asad Zia Hospital, Mardan, and with Ihsan Medical Center, Mardan — to expand clinical training, practical exposure, and research opportunities for students of its Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Both agreements were signed on behalf of WUM by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana Ahmad. The MoU with Asad Zia Hospital was signed by its CEO, Dr. Aiman Zia, while the MoU with Ihsan Medical Center was signed by its CEO, Mr. Biland Khan.
Under both agreements, eligible BS students — including those in their final semester — will be able to undertake supervised clinical internships and practical training placements of four to six weeks at the respective institutions, subject to their capacity and mutual coordination. The MoUs also provide for joint research initiatives, seminars, and workshops, along with structured mechanisms for supervision, ethical compliance, and data confidentiality.
University officials said the twin partnerships reflect WUM’s continued effort to strengthen linkages between academic learning and practical healthcare experience, giving students broader exposure across clinical settings in Mardan.
Both MoUs were facilitated by WUM’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), represented by Director ORIC Ms. Haleema Ikram, with Dr. Ayesha Bibi, Head of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, coordinating on the academic side. Each agreement is valid for three years and may be renewed by mutual consent.
