PESHAWAR: Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassaemia Center & Blood Transfusion Services Peshawar has collected 198,469 blood bags from July 2006 to August 31, 2026, according to its latest progress report.
During the period, the foundation issued 109,313 blood/product bags to thalassaemia patients and 48,718 bags to haemophilia patients. Another 84,626 bags were provided to government and private hospitals, taking the total blood/products issued to 242,657 bags.
The foundation’s screening report showed 3,374 Hepatitis-B, 1,175 Hepatitis-C, 171 HIV/AIDS, 677 VDRL, and 65 malaria parasite cases among screened blood donations.
The foundation has registered 1,585 patients, including 1,368 thalassaemia, 150 haemophilia, and 67 other blood disorder patients.
Under its thalassaemia screening programme during pregnancy, 464 cases were tested, with 132 thalassaemia major cases detected, 210 beta-thalassaemia trait cases, and 122 normal cases reported.
