PROVINCE REPORT
KARACHI: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) observed World Physiotherapy Day 2026 with awareness activities highlighting the important role of physiotherapy in patient recovery, rehabilitation and a better quality of life.
This year’s theme focused on the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in preventing, managing and rehabilitating cardiovascular disease and stroke. The theme highlights how movement and timely rehabilitation can help people stay active, recover from illness and regain independence.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in three people worldwide lives with a health condition that could benefit from rehabilitation. However, many people still do not have access to the rehabilitation services they need. Therefore, greater awareness and access to rehabilitation remain important for improving patient recovery and quality of life.
At SIUT, physiotherapy forms an important part of the care provided to patients. Through rehabilitation and continued support, the physiotherapy team helps patients regain movement and strength and take gradual steps towards recovery.
Reflecting the institute’s long-standing philosophy of free treatment with dignity and without discrimination, the observance highlighted that quality healthcare is not limited to treating an illness but also includes helping patients recover and return to their daily lives.
