RAWALPINDI: Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al Hajjar met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi during his two-day visit to Pakistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.

According to ISPR, the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in the security domain.

The importance of strengthening institutional linkages and fostering greater cooperation between the security institutions of Pakistan and Lebanon was also emphasised during the meeting.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Lebanon and expressed the desire to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of shared interest, ISPR said.

The Lebanese minister appreciated Pakistan’s contributions towards regional peace and stability and acknowledged the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
