England, batting first after Pakistan won the toss and elected to field, posted 302 for six in their allotted 50 overs. Jack Nelson top-scored with 74 off 68 balls, while Theo Lamey contributed 58.
Rizwanullah was Pakistan’s leading bowler, taking three wickets for 59 runs.
Pakistan began the chase under pressure and were reduced to 124 for five. Hamza Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar then produced a remarkable recovery, adding 154 runs for the sixth wicket.
Hamza Zahoor scored an impressive 86 from 65 balls, including six fours and five sixes, while Hasnain Abbas Dar made 56 off 67 balls with five fours.
Pakistan reached 278 before losing Hasnain, followed shortly afterwards by Hamza. Mohammad Sayyam kept Pakistan’s hopes alive with a quick 14 off eight balls, including two sixes.
Needing four runs from the final delivery to win, Pakistan could manage only one run and finished at 300 for nine in their 50 overs.
England therefore won a thrilling contest by two runs, although Pakistan still lead the four-match series 2-1.
