Pakistan Under-19 secured a memorable 3-1 series victory over England in the four-match Youth ODI series after producing an impressive all-round performance throughout the tour.
The national junior side won the first two matches in succession to take a 2-0 lead. England fought back in the third match with a thrilling two-run victory, but Pakistan responded strongly in the fourth and decisive match, defeating the hosts by a massive 200 runs to clinch the series.
England had beaten Pakistan by just two runs in the third ODI in a dramatic finish. However, Pakistan made a powerful comeback in the decisive fourth match. Rizwanullah had taken three wickets in the third game, while Hamza Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar scored valuable half-centuries.
Usman Khan, Abdul Qadir, Ahmed Hussain, Farhan Yousaf and other Pakistani batters played important roles in the series, while the bowling unit produced a superb performance in the decisive match to restrict England to just 150 runs.
The 3-1 series triumph gave Pakistan Under-19 a memorable finish to their tour of England.
Pakistan Win First ODI by 177 Runs
In the first Youth ODI at Arundel, Pakistan recorded a comprehensive 177-run victory. Batting first, Pakistan scored 332 runs in their allotted 50 overs.
Opener Usman Khan produced a magnificent 151, while captain Farhan Yousaf scored 115. The pair shared an outstanding 268-run partnership for the third wicket.
In reply, England were bowled out for 155. Mohammad Siam was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers, taking four wickets for 39 runs, while Rizwanullah claimed two wickets.
Pakistan Take 2-0 Lead
Pakistan maintained their excellent form in the second match and defeated England to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Abdul Qadir was the star of the Pakistani batting, scoring an aggressive 146. Mohammad Siam and Rizwanullah also played important roles with the ball as Pakistan continued their winning run.
England Edge Pakistan by Two Runs in Thriller
England fought back in the third ODI with a thrilling two-run victory over Pakistan.
Batting first, England scored 302 runs, with Jack Nelson top-scoring with 74 and Theo Lamey contributing 58. Rizwanullah was Pakistan’s leading bowler with three wickets.
Chasing the target, Hamza Zahoor scored 86, while Hasnain Abbas Dar made 56 to bring Pakistan close to victory. Pakistan reached 300 for nine.
Four runs were required from the final delivery, but Pakistan managed only one run, falling just two runs short of the target.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan retained a 2-1 lead in the series, setting up the fourth ODI as the decisive encounter.
Pakistan Seal Series with 200-Run Victory
Wormsley: Pakistan Under-19 produced an outstanding all-round performance in the fourth and decisive Youth ODI against England, defeating the hosts by 200 runs to win the four-match series 3-1.
At Sir Paul Getty’s Ground in Wormsley, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a huge total of 350 for four in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, England were bowled out for just 150 in 20.4 overs.
Pakistan’s openers, Usman Khan and Jahangir Bilal, provided an excellent start, putting together 148 runs for the first wicket. Both batters scored 79. Usman struck nine fours and a six, while Jahangir Bilal hit 13 fours.
After the opening partnership, Ahmed Hussain and captain Farhan Yousaf continued the assault on the English bowling attack. They added 144 runs for the fourth wicket.
Ahmed Hussain scored 63 off 53 balls, including eight fours and a six, while captain Farhan Yousaf remained unbeaten on a brilliant 80 off just 54 deliveries. His innings included eight fours and three sixes.
Pakistan finished with 350 for four in 50 overs, setting England a target of 351.
England made a fast start in the chase, with Ralphie Albert and Isaac Muhammad putting together a 50-run partnership during the first five overs. However, Pakistan’s bowlers quickly took control of the match.
England lost three wickets for 93 runs after 10 overs, and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
Robbie Bowman offered some resistance for England, scoring 67 off 43 balls, including four fours and seven sixes. However, he received little support from the other batters.
England were eventually bowled out for 150 in 20.4 overs, giving Pakistan a massive 200-run victory.
For Pakistan, Rizwanullah and Mohammad Siam took three wickets each, while Ahmed Hussain and Naqab Shafiq claimed two wickets apiece. Rizwanullah conceded only 32 runs in his eight overs, while Ahmed Hussain took two wickets for just 16 runs in 6.1 overs.
Pakistan’s victory in the fourth ODI reflected their dominance in both batting and bowling. After scoring 350 runs, they dismissed England for 150 to complete a comprehensive 200-run victory and clinch the four-match series 3-1.
Pakistan’s Leading Batters
Usman Khan, Farhan Yousaf, Abdul Qadir, Hamza Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar were among Pakistan’s leading performers with the bat during the series.
Usman’s outstanding 151 and Abdul Qadir’s impressive 146 were among the most memorable individual performances of the series. Farhan Yousaf also made a significant contribution with the bat while leading the team.
His 268-run partnership with Usman Khan in the first ODI laid the foundation for Pakistan’s emphatic victory.
Bowling Unit Also Makes Major Contribution
Pakistan’s success was also built on a strong bowling attack. Mohammad Siam, Rizwanullah, Abdul Subhan and the other bowlers kept England’s batting under pressure at crucial stages.
Mohammad Siam claimed four wickets in the first ODI, while Rizwanullah’s three-wicket haul in the third match played an important role in restricting England to 302.
Pakistan Under-19’s 3-1 series victory highlights the emergence of talented young players in both batting and bowling. Usman Khan’s impressive batting, Farhan Yousaf’s leadership and the team’s overall all-round performance made the series triumph on English soil a memorable achievement.
