ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar has indicated that an emergency could be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if circumstances warrant such a constitutional measure.
Speaking about the possible imposition of emergency in the province, Tarar said the Constitution was clear on the procedure and circumstances for its application.
“If the situation is such that the Constitution requires an emergency to be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it should certainly be imposed and it will be imposed,” he said.
The federal law minister’s remarks come amid discussions over the prevailing situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the possible use of constitutional provisions to address it.
