Karachi: Calling the police uniform a symbol of responsibility, Inspector General of Police Sindh Javed Alam Odho urged 1,018 newly trained recruits to uphold the law, protect citizens and strengthen public trust. The recruits completed their training at the Shahid Hayat Police Training College, Saeedabad, where the IGP attended the 133rd Passing-Out Parade as the chief guest. The newly trained personnel demonstrated their skills in marching, drill, firing and other areas of police training.

On arrival at the college, the IGP was received by the Additional IG Karachi, Additional IG Training, DIG Training and Principal of the Shahid Hayat Police Training College Aleena Rajpar. The principal delivered a welcome address and briefed the IGP on the college’s overall performance, training programmes and the professional development of recruits.

The IGP inspected the passing-out parade and congratulated the recruits on successfully completing their training. Addressing the ceremony, he said the police uniform was not merely an honour but also carried a great responsibility. The IGP added that public trust was the foundation of effective policing, stressing that providing relief to victims and taking firm action against those who violated the law should define the conduct of police officers.

He said policing requirements were rapidly changing in the modern era, making continuous learning and professional development essential for police personnel. He stressed the need to adopt modern technology and contemporary policing methods to effectively respond to emerging challenges, including cybercrime, organised crime and terrorism.

Referring to the sacrifices of Sindh Police martyrs and Ghazis, the IGP said their sacrifices should continue to serve as a source of inspiration for the force. He urged the newly passed-out personnel to perform their duties with honesty and dedication, describing service to the public as a responsibility that must be carried out with commitment.

The IGP also distributed medals and certificates among recruits who had demonstrated outstanding performance during the training course. He urged them to apply the knowledge, discipline and professional skills acquired during their training in their practical service and uphold the dignity of the Sindh Police.
