PROVINCE REPORT
Mardan: Women University Mardan (WUM) successfully conducted the M.Phil Zoology Viva Voce examinations, in which 12 M.Phil scholars successfully presented and defended their research work. The scholars included two under the supervision of Dr. Huma Fatima, six under Dr. Nosheen Rashid, two under Dr. Hina Jabeen, and two under Dr. Touseef Rehan. The research theses were examined by distinguished external examiners, Dr. Sumbal Haleem, Dr. Erum Maqsood, and Dr. Asma Azam from SBBWU, Peshawar, and Dr. Gulab Fatima Rani from KMU, Peshawar. The University appreciated the examiners for their valuable time, scholarly insights, and constructive feedback.
The research projects demonstrated strong practical relevance and potential applications across poultry health, veterinary sciences, livestock management, biodiversity conservation, ecological planning, pest management, sustainable agriculture, and animal-feed industries. Research conducted by Sana Habib on helminths in domesticated chickens, Zainab Bibi on Salmonella in broiler chickens, Sumbal Lodhi on ticks infesting dogs, Sawaira Khan on gut microbiota of the Greater Wax Moth, Aleena Ejaz on gastrointestinal parasites in domestic animals, Ms. Kiran on avian biodiversity and habitat suitability of the White-Breasted Waterhen, Ms. Urooj on selenium nanoparticles and Bacillus subtilis in stressed broiler chickens, and Ms. Uzma Lal Muhammad on intestinal microbiota of the Black Soldier Fly highlighted research with potential benefits for animal health, food safety, conservation, sustainable waste management, and related industries.
Special appreciation is extended to Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor, WUM, for her visionary leadership and continued support for research excellence. The University also acknowledges Ms. Haleema Ikram, Deputy Director ORIC; Mr. Adnan Ali Khan, Controller of Examinations; and the WUM Administration for their valuable support in facilitating postgraduate research and academic processes. WUM congratulates all M.Phil scholars, supervisors, examiners, and faculty members on this significant academic milestone and wishes them continued success in advancing Zoological sciences and contributing meaningful research to society and industry.
