SWAT: Deputy Inspector General Malakand Region Fida Hassan Shah has said the law and order situation across Malakand Division is satisfactory and police are on high alert to meet any security challenge.
He said tourists could visit Swat and other tourist destinations without fear, as police personnel were performing duties round the clock to ensure public safety.
Fida Hassan Shah expressed these views during a meeting with Peshawar Press Club Senior Vice President Zia-ul-Haq, Swat Union of Journalists President Shehzad Alam and journalist Murad Ali Khan.
The DIG said maintaining peace was the police department’s top priority and security had been strengthened at sensitive locations, tourist spots, entry and exit points, highways and other important places.
He said the situation was being continuously monitored and district police had been directed to further enhance security arrangements. Close coordination with other institutions was also being maintained.
Fida Hassan Shah said police would continue protecting the lives and property of citizens and ensuring a secure environment for tourists, adding that negligence in maintaining law and order would not be tolerated.
