PESHAWAR: A community meeting under the UNICEF-supported Model Village Project was held in Badizai to discuss child protection, education, healthcare, sanitation and community development.

Representatives of UNICEF Welfare, the Child Protection Commission, local elders and young people from Sheikhan, Torkhel, Gujaran and Miana participated in the meeting.

Participants called for free medical camps, improved sanitation, child protection awareness campaigns, additional classrooms at the primary school and the establishment of a girls’ high school. They also proposed introducing a second shift at the girls’ school to accommodate more students.

UNICEF Welfare representatives Bilal Barki and Ilyas Khan, along with Muhammad Asim Khan of the Child Protection Commission, stressed collective efforts to safeguard children’s rights and promote a safe environment.

Badizai Child Protection Committee President Farhan Khalil and General Secretary Aamirullah Khalil emphasised community participation and coordination with relevant authorities to address local needs.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to promote children’s welfare, improve basic facilities and involve young people in community development initiatives.
