PROVINCE REPORT

SHANGLA: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Amir Muqam has vowed accountability for alleged corruption in the province, saying every penny of public money allegedly misappropriated would be recovered.

He was addressing a large public gathering organised by PML-N in Bisham, Shangla, on Sunday under the banner of “Thanksgiving Day” to mark what the party described as the end of PTI’s 14-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Thousands of party workers and local residents attended the rally.

The participants chanted slogans in favour of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Engineer Amir Muqam. They also expressed support for Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Pakistan Army, while voicing their commitment to peace, national security and stability.

Addressing the gathering, Amir Muqam thanked the participants for attending the rally on short notice. He said similar large gatherings had previously been held in Buner and Swat, claiming that people were dissatisfied with the previous provincial government and its leadership.

He alleged that the PTI government had failed to deliver on public welfare and relied on what he described as a misleading narrative on social media. He further claimed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rejected the party’s politics.

The federal minister said PML-N did not believe in the politics of revenge; however, he maintained that accountability would be pursued over any public funds found to have been misappropriated. He added that efforts were under way to improve different sectors of the province and promised to continue working for the welfare, prosperity and development of the people.

Amir Muqam also praised the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces, saying their contributions were vital to the country’s security and stability. He expressed pride in Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership.

The rally was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Muhammad Rashad Khan, former Chakisar tehsil nazim and PML-N Shangla district general secretary Bakht Alam Khan, former Puran tehsil nazim Muhammad Ali, former Alpuri tehsil nazim Muhammad Tahir, district PML-N president Intikhab Alam Khan, Humayun Khan, Sabir-ur-Rehman, former provincial assembly member Qaimoos Khan and other party leaders.

The event was part of PML-N’s political activities in the province, with party leaders highlighting their agenda for accountability, development and public welfare.
