ABBOTTABAD: The Abbottabad Table Tennis Boys and Girls Open Championship concluded in style at the Modern Age School and College Boys Hall, marking two days of intense competition and sportsmanship. The event was jointly organized by the District Table Tennis Association and Modern Age School and College.

Majid Rafique Mughal graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Muhammad Shahid and International Player Coach Ibrahim Khan were present as Guests of Honor. The championship attracted top players from Abbottabad, delivering some of the finest table tennis the city has seen.

Hanzala Mughal defeated Huzaifa Chaudhry 3–2 in a nail-biting best-of-five match. After winning the first two sets, Hanzala was pushed to the brink as Huzaifa claimed the next two. In the deciding set, Hanzala clinched victory with an 11–8 finish.
Under-13 Boys:
Shayan Qaiser (Modern Age) emerged as champion, while Imran (Modern Age) was the runner-up.Girls’ Singles:
Mahnoor (GPGC) triumphed over Maryam (Compre Hanso).
Men’s Doubles:
Farjad Hassan (Govt. High School No. 2) and Hazifa Zahid (Modern Age) defeated Hazifa Chaudhry and Hanzala.
Girls’ Doubles:
Mahnoor and Maryam defeated Qudsia and Zarnish (Burn Hall).

The organizers praised Modern Age MD Abdul Wahid Mir, a sports enthusiast himself, for his unwavering support, including providing the venue and offering continued assistance for future events.

“A nation whose playgrounds are populated will find its hospitals empty. Encouraging youth through events like this is vital. Sports not only steer young people away from negative influences but also sharpen their mental and physical capabilities.”

He further stressed the need for greater government support for sports to unlock the full potential of Pakistan’s talented youth.

On behalf of the organizers, Zahid Tanoli and Sajid Rafique Mughal presented a full report of the championship and expressed gratitude to all sponsors, players, and guests for their participation and support.
