CHITRAL: On the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur and with the cooperation of the provincial government, the second group of Tirich Mir Base Camp Trekking left from Chitral for Tirich Mir. In the second phase of the trek organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and Tirich Mir Backpackers Club, a group of 20 people will travel from Chitral via Moroi, Koghuzi and Reshun to Golghari Pakhturi, where they will start trekking from Oweer Shabronz on the second day and camp at Shokhorshal Camp. The next day trekkers will travel from Oweer Shabronz to Shokhorshal Camp and then to Tirich Mir Base Camp. Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Rao Hashim Azeem was the chief guest who welcomed all the trekkers and sent them off with best wishes. Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Rao Hashim Azeem said that trekking will not only strengthen the local economy but will also benefit the local hotels and porters economically. He paid tribute to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority for organizing the successful event and said that this event will yield results in the future and a large number of domestic and foreign tourists will visit Chitral and Tirich Mir Peak. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority provided T-shirts, caps and water bottles to the trekkers. The third group of Tirich Mir trekkers will leave for the base camp in the first week of August, which will include women trekkers from different provinces of the country.
