PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Peoples Party Senator and Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program Rubina Khalid strongly condemned the use of tear gas on the participants of the Save the Province movement. She said the provincial government tortured unarmed workers to cover up its dark deeds.
According to her, political workers have the right to peaceful protest in a democracy and cruel violence against political workers reflects an authoritarian mentality.
She further added that instead of being ashamed of corruption worth billions of rupees, provincial rulers have reached the limit of shamelessness.
She said PPP leaders are not afraid of the tactics of sticks and bullets and
the unjust and shameful violence against women is a stain on Pashtun traditions.
Pointing to the Chief Minister’s statement regarding sticks wrong in Islamabad and right in Peshawar, she has demanded Chief Minister to apologize immediately for his dictatorial measures taken against peaceful protesters.
