PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Bar Association has strongly condemned the inflammatory and hateful statement made by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi on November 6, 2025.
In a statement, Peshawar Bar Association President Qaiser Zaman Advocate denounced the Chief Minister’s irresponsible and insulting remarks, in which he alleged that “security forces used to tie dogs in our mosques and tell us that these dogs and you are the same thing.”
President Qaiser Zaman said such remarks are a mockery of state institutions and undermine the sanctity of holy places like mosques. He stated that these frivolous, inflammatory, and hateful comments appear intended only to mislead the public, spread hatred against institutions, and create unrest in the province.
He demanded that the Chief Minister immediately issue an unconditional apology for his remarks.
The Bar President added that the legal fraternity has always upheld the Constitution, law, and state institutions, and strongly condemns any statement or act that damages national unity or religious harmony.
The Cabinet of the Peshawar Bar Association unanimously emphasized that such rhetoric is unbecoming of the Chief Minister’s office and could fuel chaos and instability in the province.
The Association urged Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to speak with responsibility, tolerance, and adherence to constitutional values, and to focus on addressing the administrative challenges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of promoting discord.
