DERA ISMAIL KHAN:The Department of Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, organized an impressive and well-attended Inaugural Ceremony to mark the formal opening of the Darajat Museum and Galiyat Cultural Facility—a landmark initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the province’s rich archaeological and historical heritage.

The ceremony was held with great enthusiasm, drawing participation from government officials, cultural scholars, archaeologists, tourism experts, media representatives, and members of the local community. The event was graced by Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who attended as the Special Guest and performed the official inauguration.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur highlighted the importance of safeguarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s historical legacy. He noted that the Darajat Museum represents a significant step toward providing citizens and visitors with access to the region’s archaeological richness. He commended the department’s efforts in establishing a world-class facility that preserves artifacts, educates the public, and strengthens the identity of the region.

The former Chief Minister stated that cultural heritage is an invaluable asset and that its protection and display contribute not only to historical awareness but also to economic development through tourism. “Our objective is to ensure that the future generations develop a deep connection with their roots,” he said. “Museums such as this one in Darajat will serve as centers of learning, research, and cultural pride for all.”

Senior officials from the Department of Secretary Dr Samad Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums briefed the guests about the extensive work carried out to develop the museum and its adjoining facilities in the scenic Galiyat region. They explained that the museum features curated exhibits, preserved artifacts, informational galleries, and digital displays designed to provide visitors with an engaging and educational experience. The Galiyat facility, they added, is equipped to support cultural events, historical exhibitions, and guided tours to enrich public interest in the area’s heritage.

Experts in the field emphasized that the opening of the Darajat Museum is part of a broader initiative to map, preserve, and promote archaeological sites across the province. They expressed hope that such institutions will attract scholars, researchers, students, and tourists from across Pakistan and abroad.

Participants at the ceremony praised the government’s dedication to cultural development and its efforts to boost heritage tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They stressed the importance of continued collaboration between government bodies, academic institutions, and the local community to protect historical sites and promote a culture of preservation.

The event concluded with a guided tour of the museum, during which the attendees viewed the exhibits and appreciated the quality of conservation work.
