PROVINCE REPORT
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Acting on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Dera Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddiq led a successful anti-encroachment operation and reclaimed 10 kanals of valuable government land earmarked for the construction of a Pilgrims’ Hostel.
The operation was carried out in Kotli Imam Hussain, Dera, where the land, currently valued at approximately Rs460 million, had been occupied by former Auqaf Department leaseholders despite its ownership having already been transferred to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the operation, authorities demolished seven illegal shops and razed 16 under-construction shops to prevent further encroachments. Residents of a few houses built on the land were served 24-hour notices to vacate the premises, failing which legal action will be taken.
The operation was conducted peacefully under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddiq with the support of the Revenue Department, Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Police, and WASA.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Siddiq said the district administration was committed to protecting government property and ensuring the timely completion of public welfare projects. He stressed that illegal occupation of state land would not be tolerated and strict action would continue against violators without discrimination.
He added that the Pilgrims’ Hostel is an important public welfare project that will provide quality accommodation for visitors and improve public service facilities in the district.
