PESHAWAR : The 13th anniversary of the tragic bombing at All Saints Church, Kohati Gate, Peshawar, was observed on Monday, with prayers and tributes paid to those who lost their lives in the devastating attack on September 22, 2013. The bombing claimed the lives of more than 100 people and left many families grieving.
Among the martyrs was Riaz Washington Bhatti, who is remembered by his family and community as a symbol of honesty and truthfulness.
Speaking on the occasion, his real brother, Shamaun Bhatti, said that, by the grace of Almighty Allah, the martyr’s children have now grown up and are pursuing their studies at Khyber Medical University (KMU).
He said the children had been supported by their paternal uncle, who had made every possible effort to fulfill his responsibilities and repay the love, affection and sacrifices of his elder brother, who embraced martyrdom in the tragic attack.
Shamaun Bhatti, however, expressed concern that even after 13 years, the government had not yet fulfilled all of its promised obligations towards the martyr’s family.
He said the family was still awaiting the complete compensation and other facilities promised to the families of the victims, including scholarships and their entitled rights.
He appealed to the government to honor its commitments and ensure that the remaining compensation, scholarships and other promised benefits were provided to the martyr’s family without further delay.
