GILGIT: Fahad Hanif received a major political boost as Abdul Qayyum along with hundreds of supporters officially joined the Pakistan Peoples Party during a crowded press conference at the Gilgit Press Club.

The Shunter Ittehad group announced its complete merger with the PPP and withdrew support for rival candidates, pledging full backing to the party’s nominee in Constituency No. 1 Astore.

The announcement was welcomed by PPP leaders including Humayun Khan and Sadia Danish, who expressed confidence that the development would strengthen the party’s position in Gilgit-Baltistan.

PPP leadership said the political shift would contribute to regional stability and development, and help resolve public issues through greater political unity and cooperation.
