ISLAMABAD: A two-day refresher training workshop for journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan concluded successfully. The workshop was organized by Indivisible Land with the support of the European Union at a local hotel in Islamabad.
On the first day, trainer Saifullah Khoso reviewed activities conducted over the past two years with the participating journalists. The sessions included discussions on laws applicable to digital platforms, the Right to Information Act, the impact of fake and unverified news on society, and meetings with members of the National Assembly and heads of various institutions. These meetings focused on addressing journalists’ challenges and exploring legislative proposals to ensure their protection.
On the second day, under the supervision of Saifullah Khoso, the journalists’ delegation visited Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Television (PTV), and the Senate of Pakistan. At Radio Pakistan, DG Saeed Ahmed Sheikh briefed the delegation on the digitization of historical audio archives, the significance of the museum, and other ongoing programs.
During the PTV visit, officials provided detailed briefings on different sections, including the newsroom, PCR, MCR, and morning show desks. Similarly, at the Senate Secretariat, officials gave the delegation a multimedia briefing on the history of the Senate in the museum.
The delegation also met Senator Jan Muhammad and NA member Polin Baloch, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, who provided insights into lawmaking in the upper and lower houses, the election process of senators, the mandates of standing committees, and the preparation and approval process of various bills. The journalists also visited the Senate Hall and the Constitution Avenue, expressing great interest in the experience.
At the conclusion of the two-day workshop, journalists described the event as extremely useful for enhancing their professional capacities and emphasized that such workshops should continue to be held regularly.
