PCP Graduates now excelling at national and international levels :Dr Ilyas Syed

Peshawar:A 3-day career development training program was successfully conducted at the Paraplegic Center Peshawar (PCP) for persons with disabilities. Organized in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the program engaged 15 participants from different parts of KP.

The training was led by Ms. Sarah Naimat (Clinical Psychologist, PCP), Engr Salman Khan (In-charge Media Cell, PCP) and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal (Disability Inclusion Advisor, ICRC). It was aimed to equip persons with disabilities with essential skills, awareness, and confidence to enable them explore employment opportunities across various sectors. Participants received practical training in both technical and soft skills, including who am i?, game plan (to know yourself), networking, CV Resume، effective use of social media & interviewing. They were also guided in setting realistic goals, exploring diverse professional pathways and developing personalized growth plans.

Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, CEO PCP, while addressing the closing ceremony, stated that PCP is not only a trusted institution for the medical, physical and psychological rehabilitation of persons with disabilities but is also committed to their economic and social empowerment and reintegration into society. He added that this training is a testament to that vision, substantiated by the fact that Engr Salman Khan, once a rehabilitated graduate of the center, now serves as a trainer in the same program. Similarly, another graduate of the center, Ihsan Danish, is now a Paralympian representing Pakistan globally and earning accolades that bring pride to the nation.

Mr. Aziz Ahmad, Program Manager PRP at ICRC, appreciated the initiative and thanked the management of the center and the participants for making it a success event. This training marks an important milestone toward empowering persons with disabilities and providing them inclusivity and equal opportunities in society.
