PESHAWAR: The three-day Sports Gala organized at Islamia College for Girls Peshawar concluded in a grand and vibrant ceremony, celebrating students’ talent, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The closing ceremony was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahmad-ur-Rehman Saljuqi as the chief guest. He lauded the outstanding performance of the students and underscored the vital role of sports in character building and societal development.
During the gala, students actively participated in a range of competitions including cricket, table tennis, badminton, tug-of-war, javelin throw, and shot put. The events reflected high levels of enthusiasm, teamwork, and competitive spirit. Participants demonstrated exemplary discipline and sportsmanship throughout the competitions.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ahmad-ur-Rehman Saljuqi emphasized that sports are essential for fostering a healthy and balanced society. He noted that alongside physical fitness, sports cultivate leadership qualities, decision-making ability, resilience, teamwork, and a spirit of compassion. He appreciated the dedication and discipline of the students and congratulated the administration for successfully organizing the event.
Director Sports Ali Hoti, in his remarks, stated that promoting sports activities throughout the year remains a top institutional priority. He announced that a comprehensive sports calendar will soon be introduced, including an inter-campus sports gala to provide broader opportunities for student participation and talent development.
He congratulated Principal Dr. Waqar-un-Nisa, Shazia Subhan, faculty members, and players for ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the Sports Gala.
A large number of faculty members, teachers, and students attended the closing ceremony. The event concluded with the distribution of trophies, medals, and certificates among outstanding performers, while overall best-performing teams were awarded special prizes.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting positive and healthy extracurricular activities to further enhance the all-round development of students.
